Bath is known for being situated in the beautiful countryside of southwest England, as well as its status as a UNESCO heritage site. The city only has a population of about 90.000 people, but a lot of tourists go to Bath to see the beautiful architecture and experience its very strong cultural heritage. This picturesque city is known for its natural hot springs and the 18th-century Georgian architecture, which makes a trip to Bath feel like a journey back in time. This small city has a lot of great restaurants and cafés that cater to all tastes. Bath is a perfect place to go for the weekend if you feel like you need to unwind.

The Eastern Eye: The best Indian restaurant in Bath (and some of the best curries we've ever had). This place has won a lot of awards. The place doesn't look smart from the outside, but once you get to the top floor you feel like stepping into an Indian banquet. The place is huge, but getting a table here in the evening can still be difficult, as it's one of the most popular restaurants in Bath. Great value at dinner time as well as a good value lunch menu.

Sotto Sotto: One of the top restaurants in Bath and definitely the best Italian restaurant. Walk down the narrow winding steps to go to the basement. Here you'll find stone corridors and arched ceilings with candles lighting up the rooms. Very charming staff and excellent pasta dishes. Book way in advance.

Menu Gordon Jones: There is no menu here. Gordon Jones, the owner, feels like preparing on that given day. He uses local produce of the highest quality based on the season. The menu here is very creative and the presentation of the food is fantastic. Book a couple of weeks in advance to make sure that you get a table. This place will not let you down. 

Ole Tapas: Tapas like being in Barcelona. Go here for a great selection of classic tapas dishes. Intimate atmosphere, good background music and great staff. Good place to go if you want a relaxed evening accompanied with exquisite Spanish food. 

➳ WHERE TO HAVE LUNCH in bath

The Scallop Shell: Definitely the best fish and chips we've had anywhere. Walking into this restaurant feels like walking in to place somewhere in the mediterranean. We had the haddock fish and chips with a lot of mushy peas and tartare sauce. Sit by the window and feast on all of this wonderful seafood. 

The Salamander: A classic pub that serves really tasty food and local brews. Better than your normal pub food and this place serves up a lot of different beers - a lot of them locally brewed.

Clayton's Kitchen:  For lunch this place serves up some of the best sandwiches in Bath. We also highly recommend the salads and soups. Quite a lot of options and the place has a nice and clean style that would suit most.

Wild Café: This breakfast place is tucked away in a cute little back street and away from the crowds. The atmosphere is really local and friendly. Everything is prepared in the open kitchen in front of you. Try the variations of pancakes, the scrambled chorizo eggs or the classic Eggs Benedict. The food here is simple and good quality ingredients. Have your morning tea or coffee and get ready for a day full of adventures!

➳ WHERE TO DRINK in bath

Circo Bar & Lounge: Great cocktails. The people here really know what they are doing and can guide you through the cocktail list or help create a cocktail that suits your taste. Definitely worth a visit before or after going out in Bath.

Opium Bar: This cocktail bar is situated in a basement close to Pulteney Bridge. The decor here is Victorian meets Renaissance and has a great intimate atmosphere. This place will not disappoint.

➳ WHERE TO GET COFFEE in bath

Colonna & Small's: A good place for coffee snobs. This place takes coffee brewing to the next level - here you can get anything from your espresso to your pour-over. These guys know their coffee and you'll be in for a coffee-revelation.

Society Café: Close to Bath Abbey you'll find Society Coffee. The interior is very hip and you instantly see why people would go here instead of the Costas and Starbucks around the corner. This place has soul and serves up excellent coffee.
