La Tana: La Tana (The Lair) is a great place in the old city of Bergamo. In this restaurant they serve traditional recipes with a modern twist. The restaurant is small and cosy. The decoration is sophisticated and the atmosphere is relaxed and romantic. Very reasonable prices compared to many other restaurants in the old city. One of the great eating experiences we had in Bergamo.
Ristorante Lalimentari: We went here to celebrate Elin's birthday. We got a table that was surrounded by wine bottles on all 4 walls. The decor was rustic with and the brick walls really worked for the place. We ordered a great bottle of red wine recommended by the waiter, which was followed by an amazing burrata fresca for starters.. The restaurant specialises in classic local dishes, so we decided to try the polenta with ragu di salsicca and a perfect lasagna. Great place to go for a date.
Trattoria Camozzi da Claudio: This is a great little restaurant. Small and family run - by Claudio, his wife and his mother-in-law. This trattoria specializes in seafood and they do it well. The place has a real Italian feel to it and you feel like you're in somebody's home. The pastas and fish dishes were sublime and the Pana Cotta and Tiramisu were just perfect.
La Delizia: Renowned for regional specialities such as casoncelli pasta and polenta, Bergamo also offers a good choice of dishes from elsewhere. At the La Delizia restaurant, enjoy Italian cuisine, international and vegetarian dishes, as well as specialities from Lombardy. La Delizia is recommended in the Michelin guide and with good reason. Try their asparagus and sausage risotto, the casoncelli and the polenta.
Sarmassa: Meat, fish, sliced hams and cheeses are all on the menu in this delightful restaurant with vaulted ceilings and 200 year-old arches. The restaurant is named after the famous Barolo della Val Sarmassa vineyard. It's a really small and cosy place with brick walls inside that makes it feel like you're back in time. This is where a lot of locals go because of the traditional and delicious dishes.
Vineria Cozzi: This place is a must, a historical wine bar, with its charming antique interiors. A wine bar and restaurant which is around 150 years old and has conserved its authentic romantic fascinating interior and exterior design. There is an antique bar with chairs, old chairs and tables with white table cloths in the dinning room and an outdoor courtyard for the warm season. Everything is antique so you have the feeling of going way back in time while enjoying a large selection of wines or whatever your fancy may be.
Baretto Di San Vigilio: Aperitivo bar and restaurant with an outdoor front terrace with a spectacular view of the city. Considered one of the most romantic restaurants in town.
Caffe' Della Funicolare: With a grandious panorama of the lower town from the outdoor balcony or from indoors, this two storey bar located within the funicular stop at the Città Alta (old town) has a casual atmosphere at times with music and different things to eat and drink.
Gombit Hotel: This design hotel is located in the heart of Bergamo historic centre, next to the Gombito Tower. It is a 3-minute drive from Bergamo Station and 15 minutes from Orio Al Serio Airport. Bergamo Alta is a great choice for travellers interested in art, food and history. This is a modern hotel with great modern design which is a fun contrast to the old city of Bergamo.
Hotel Relais San Lorenzo: The hotel is located in the historic Città Alta in Bergamo and provides the most intriguing blend of the historic and modern - the restaurant set among ancient ruins is a real treat and is sure to make your trip unforgettable. Despite its historic setting, Relais San Lorenzo is packed with modern amenities and an excellent spa. The Città Alta is wonderful place to spend a few days and the hotel is as well located as one could possibly wish.
La Valletta Relais: La Valetta Relais is a beautiful place in a tranquil setting not far from the Citti Alta of Bergamo. It's is very well run and spotless and most importantly, reasonably priced. You can see and feel the pride that Mario and his wife have for the small hotel. It really is more of a small hotel than a bed and breakfast. It is a lovely 15 minutes walk from the old town and a great pleasure in itself. La Valletta is an inn, very comfortable with just a couple of very nice rooms. A great place to go if you want a more homely stay.
